War 2 teaser OUT: Hrithik Roshan is back; Jr NTR vows to take him down with no mercy

The first official teaser of War 2, Yash Raj Films' highly anticipated action thriller, has been released today, that is, May 20, to mark Jr NTR’s birthday. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, this film marks a major entry in YRF's expanding spy universe and sees Hrithik Roshan reprise his role as the elite RAW agent Kabir after six years.
Jr NTR’s menacing debut in Bollywood
Clocking in at 1 minute and 34 seconds, the teaser introduces the new conflict driving the sequel. In a chilling voiceover, Jr NTR, making his Hindi film debut, vows to take down India's best spy. His identity and motives remain under wraps, adding to the intrigue. Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir returns in a darker, more intense avatar — bulkier, brooding, and merciless, as promised by the character’s arc teased during the end credits of Tiger 3.
High-octane action and unforgettable visuals
The teaser showcases slick action set-pieces that span sword fighting, high-speed car chases, wilderness survival, and close combat. One scene even shows Kabir going head-to-head with a wolf, setting the tone for the kind of elevated action audiences can expect. In addition to these physical feats, the visuals offer a grim aesthetic, highlighting Kabir’s transformation into a more ruthless agent.
On the other hand, NTR is seen bringing the equal style and suaveness to compete with Hrithik in every possible way. The star shows how he can antagonise anyone with a glance and let his eyes do the talking. The teaser shows a small drop in the big ocean where a major fight sequence between the two stars will take place against the backdrop of an icy region.
The teaser continues by revealing a brief glimpse of Kiara Advani in her ultra-glam avatar, who is seen romancing Hrithik, making this onscreen duo one to watch out for!

Hrithik Roshan shared the teaser on X (formerly Twitter), welcoming Jr NTR to the YRF Spy Universe with a sharp warning: “And so it begins, @tarak9999. Be prepared; there is no place for mercy. Welcome to Hell. Love, Kabir. #War2Teaser #War2”
Directed by Ayan Mukerji — best known for his work on Wake Up Sid and Brahmāstra — War 2 also stars Kiara Advani in a key role. This is Mukerji's first collaboration with both Hrithik and Jr NTR and his first foray into the spy-action genre.
Independence Day weekend release in 2025
Produced by Aditya Chopra, War 2 is slated to release globally on August 14, 2025, aligning with India’s Independence Day weekend. The film aims to raise the bar for spy thrillers in Indian cinema and is expected to be one of the biggest releases of next year.
