Chura Ke Dil Mera, originally featuring Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, has been rehashed, this time for the actress’ upcoming film Hungama 2. The makers of the film dropped the song, titled Chura Ke Dil Mera 2.0 on Tuesday and we’re not impressed with this version.
The new song features Shipa flirting with Meezaan Jaffrey as Paresh Rawal watches on. For the uninitiated, Paresh plays the role of Shilpa’s husband in the film.
Shilpa mesmerizes in a maroon saree-like attire, while Meezaan is seen in the classic monochrome get-up. Even though they look pleasing to the eye, the recreation suffers the same fate as that of a number of iconic songs that had been rehashed in the past few years - it just isn’t worth it.
Watch the song here:
Chura Ke Dil Mera 2.0 is crooned by Anmol Malik and Benny Dayal. The song is not a complete recreation and lyrics like Na koi darr, na koi fikar, aane laga hai maza may manage to keep you hooked for some time.
The song, however, lacks the most important aspect which worked well for the original track - the locations. Chura Ke Dil Mera 2.0 is set inside a ballroom with little to explore, unlike the original song.
The teaser of the song was released on July 5. It is the first song to release from Hungama 2, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on July 23.
Hungama 2 also stars Rajpal Yadav who along with Paresh Rawal also played a pivotal role in the original (Hungama) that hit theatres back in 2003.
