Since the lyrical video of the song Shuruvaagide from Golden Star Ganesh’s latest release, Sakath, came out, it was widely considered one of the best numbers of the film. Composed by Judah Sandhy and written by Arjun Luis, the song has been sung by Sid Sriram, who, of course, has done his magic to the number.
The song, features Ganesh romancing Surbhi Puranik, who made her Kannada debut with this film. In Sakath, Ganesh is an aspiring musician, who participates in a music reality show by pretending to be visually-challenged, which, he reckons will be a sure-shot TRP spinner. Balu’s agenda on the show is to be with his crush, the host Mayuri (Surbhi) and the song Shuruvaagide, is a dream sequence featuring the two, choreographed by Mohan and captured beautifully on the lens by cinematographer Santhosh Rai Pathaje.
The film, though, is not just about Baalu’s escapades on the reality show, as he inadvertently becomes ‘witness’ to a murder that is passed off as a hit-and-run case. Baalu is determined to prove the case, while also keeping up his charade as a visually-challenged person.
Although Shuruvaagide is the fourth Kannada song by Sid Sriram, after Haayagide from Tom and Jerry, Nee Sigoovaregu from Bhajarangi 2 and Muddu Neenu from Love You Rachchu, it is his third in the chronology of theatrical releases, as Love You Rachchu will be out only on December 31. The romantic comedy crime drama Sakath opened in theatres on November 26, to positive feedback.
Sakath is Ganesh’s second collaboration with director Suni, after their earlier film Chamak, which was also well received. Beside Ganesh, the film also stars Nishvika Naidu, Rangayana Raghu, Dharmanna Kadur, Giri Shivanna, Kuri Pratap, Sadhu Kokila and Raaghu Ramanakoppa, among others.
