Golden Star Ganesh’s Baanadariyalli, his third film with director Preetham Gubbi, released in theatres on September 28, nine months after it was first announced. The film was meant to be a Christmas 2022 release, which was then pushed to March and then September 15, only to finally settle on September 28, when Salaar was postponed to December. The September release came at a good time for the makers, as heroine Rukmini Vasanth’s popularity sky-rocketed only days prior when Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A came out. The film is yet to come to OTT, but now that the first post-release video song is out, it could be indication that a streaming date is not far off.
The team has just released the full video of Ninnanu Nodida, a song shot on a picturesque beach in Mangaluru, which also captured Rukmini’s swimming and surfing skills. The actress had learnt the skill for the film. The song comes as part of Ganesh’s attempt to serenade Rukmini’s character, by following her to Mangaluru. Composed by Arjun Janya, the song has been sung by Sonu Nigam.
Baanadariyalli is a film based on a story by cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, which Preetham developed into a script and screenplay. The film follows Ganesh as Sid, an aspiring cricketer and entrepreneur, who falls in love with swimmer-surfer and avid environmentalist Leela (Rukmini). Her father, Vasu (Rangayana Raghu), does not take a shine to Sid immediately, but comes around for Leela. However, to Vasu’s and Sid’s horror, a tragedy befalls them. How the two men navigate through their pain forms the crux of the narrative. Reeshma Nanaiah plays a pivotal role in the film.
A major portion of Baanadariyalli was shot in Kenya and cinematographer Abhilash Kalathi takes viewers on a trip of the country’s wild with magnificent visuals. In fact, during the promotions of the film, Ganesh had said that the Kenya portions of the film forms the soul of Baanadariyalli.
