Watch: How does team Aachar & Co fare in a quiz on all things 1960s Bengaluru?

Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy’s directorial, Aachar & Co, is set to release in theatres on July 28. The film, produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, is a tale set in 1960s Bengaluru, and focuses on one family and how they deal with the changes that came in around that time. Written by Sindhu along with standup comedian Kanan Gill, Aachar & Co follows the family of Madhusudhan and Savitri Aachar and their 10 children in a typical Jayanagara household. How the family deals with the loss of the family patriarch forms the crux of the narrative.

The film is a nostalgia-driven slice-of-life comedy, which was shot entirely in Mysuru, as the landscape of modern-day Bengaluru did not support filming. Given that Aachar & Co is a period film, the team has planned its promotional activities around its central theme. After the recent trailer launch, which introduced audiences to the Aachar family, earlier this week they released their adaptation of MS Subbalakshmi’s popular Suprabhatham. Called Bengaluru Suprabhata, the song has become a big hit already.

Today, the cast of the film go together for yet another promotion, only this time it did not have much to do with the movie itself. Instead, it was all about Bengaluru of the 1960s, as the cast was split in two teams in competition with each other. The theme of the event was a quiz on all things Bengaluru from the 60s. Sindhu, who is a 90s kid, has been quoted as saying that the 60s was a period that fascinated her as it was a time of major changes, especially in terms of gender roles and women’s empowerment — with women excelling in the field of academics, landing jobs, etc.
