Directed by British singer-songwriter Jeymes Samuels, comes a new Western to satiate your desire for fabulous gun-slinging action sequences. The Harder We Fall promises to be a classic Western revenge saga, not seen in a while, with a stellar cast including Idris Elba, Regina King, Jonathan Majors, LaKeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, R.J. Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr. and Deon Cole.

The teaser opens to the panoramic view of a desert as a train comes hurtling through with a group of people on horses overlooking it. Regina King steps onto the tracks, forcing the driver to immediately pull on the breaks. As King takes care of the driver, her crew takes over the train quickly and makes for a box in which Idris Elba, who is a convict, is being transported.

The official synopsis of the film reads, “When outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Elba) is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (Cyler) — and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (King) and Cherokee Bill (Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose.”

It will be the directorial debut film of Jeymes Samuel who has Shawn Carter (aka Jay-Z) on board as producer along with James Lassiter, Lawrence Bender and himself.

A thing to be noted is the majority of African-American cast in pivotal roles as the genre has mostly been filled with white characters and overtly racist tones. With the cast, cinematography and music, the movie appears to be a must-watch.

The film will be available to stream on Netflix. However, the final release date of the same hasn’t been revealed yet.
