Netflix released the trailer for Jason Momoa starrer Sweet Girl on Friday. Sweet Girl features Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced as a father and daughter who get embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy surrounding the pharmaceutical industry. The film will premiere on Netflix on August 20.

The plot of Sweet Girl follows Ray Cooper (Jason Momoa), a devoted family man who vows to get justice against a pharmaceutical giant who is responsible for withdrawing a life-saving drug from the market just before Cooper’s wife (Adria Arjona) dies of cancer. He embarks on a search for the truth which leads him to a deadly encounter that puts him and his daughter Rachel (Isabela Merced) in a life-threatening situation. Cooper’s search for truth turns into a quest for vengeance and a struggle for survival as he has to protect his daughter, the only family he has left.

Apart from Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced, the movie also stars Justin Bartha, Amy Brenneman, Raza Jaffrey, Lex Scott Davis, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Michael Raymond-James.

Netflix’s Sweet Girl is directed by Brian Andew Mendoza from a script written by Philip Eisner and Gregg Hurwitz. The film is produced by Jason Momoa himself along with Andrew Mendoza, Jeff Fierson and Brad Peyton.

Jason Momoa is best known for his portrayal of Khal Drogo in the popular show Game of Thrones as well as for his role as DC’s superhero Aquaman. He has previously collaborated with Netflix on the popular TV series Frontier. Their partnership will continue next year as Jason Momoa will be starring in Francis Lawrence’s Slumberland.
