Watch Tovino Thomas’ Minnal Murali make mincemeat out of Yuvraj Singh’s test of hitting six sixes in an over

There’s no stopping Minnal Murali! The latest promo material of the Netflix film starring Tovino Thomas in the lead, had the actor’s character Jaison aka Minnal Murali take up cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s speed test of hitting six sixes in an over, with a twist that the superhero had bowl, bat and field.

After acing the strength test by Great Khali, the promo had Minnal Murali expressing his initial apprehensions of playing cricket – a sport he hasn’t tried. He also didn’t equate Yuvraj’s feat of hitting six sixes in an over against England at the inaugural T20 World Cup. A quintessential stare and taut from Yuvi though changed that in a flash along with Minnal Murali accepting the challenge.

What we see next is Minnal bowling, batting and walloping sixes to all part of the country as well as to the United Arab Emirates, and racing at lightening speed to retrieve the ball each time. Satisfied by the outcome, Yuvraj gives him a ‘pass’ in the test but also promises another surprise in store. Could this have anything to do with Minnal Murali taking up a test by a particular ‘superstar’ bhai from Bollywood? We will have to wait to find out.

Minnal Murali, directed by Basil Joseph, will drop on Netflix on December 24 at 1.30pm IST. The movie revolves around a small-town tailor, who after being struck by lightning acquires superpowers. The film, which has Samir Thahir as its cinematographer, also has Guru Somasundaram, Baiju Santosh, Femina George, Mamukkoya, Jude Anthany Joseph and Aju Varghes as part of the cast.

After Fahadh Faasil’s Irul earlier this year, Minnal Murali marks Netflix’s second Malayalam original release. The streaming platform is also producing a Malayalam anthology, which is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories.
