Vettaiyan is a cop drama directed by filmmaker TJ Gnanavel. With Rajinikanth playing an encounter specialist, the film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan and others. Jailer 

Jailer is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film revolves around a retired jailer who has to go against a deadly criminal after his police son goes missing. Jailer stars Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Mirnaa Menon, Vinayak, and others, with actors Shivrajkumar, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sunil appearing in guest appearances. Backed by Sun Pictures, it is speculated that a sequel titled Hukum is in the making.

Enthiran 

Enthiran is a sci-fi action-drama film helmed by Shankar. The film stars Aishwarya Rai as the female lead. Enthiran revolves around a robotic scientist Vaseegaran who invents a humanoid (also played by Rajinikanth). Soon, the humanoid begins to think on its own, and develop senses to make own decisions, bringing destruction to mankind. Enthiran is one of the most expensive films to be ever made in Indian cinema and went on to become highest-grossing Indian film in 2010.

Chandramukhi

Chandramukhi is a psychological horror comedy film written and directed by P. Vasu. A remake of Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, Chandramukhi is about a woman who suffers from identity disorder and assumes the identity of a late dancer after staying at a palace that is said to be haunted, and how it affects her family. Chandramukhi also stars Nayanthara, Jyothika, Prabhu, Vadivelu and Nasser, among others.

Kabali

Kabali is a 2016 action-drama film directed by Pa Ranjith. The film stars Rajinikanth, Winston Chao, Radhika Apte, Sai Dhanshika, Kishore, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan, John Vijay, Rosyam Nor, Nassar and Mime Gopi, among others. The film revolves around an aged gangster with a past, and when released attempts to revenge those who brought bad to his family as he searches for his wife and daughter who are believed to be dead.

Petta

Petta is an action-drama film directed by Karthik Subbaraj, with a cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Simran, Trisha, Megha Akash, Malavika Mohanan, Mahendran, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Aadukalam Naren, Munishkanth and Sananth. Rajinikanth plays a hostel warden who has a past, and gets pulled into a conflict with an old enemy.
