Aamir Khan talked about the situation of the film industry in India several times in past interviews. During Waves Summit 2025, the actor-director-producer opened up about how he is unhappy with film releases in India. He also shared his thoughts on how Bollywood films are faulty from a business point of view. Not only this, but Aamir also said that Hollywood is way ahead of us.
During Waves Summit 2025, Aamir Khan said that from a business point of view, our films are faulty. The Yaadon Ki Baaraat actor said, "We are not making good enough films. That is a separate topic. Whether your film is good or bad, this business module does not make sense to me. If I make a very good film, this business model still does not make sense to me, so I am saying this in respect of the quality of films. Remove that from a business aspect. What is my business module, which, according to me, is currently, it's very faulty."

The Ghajini actor gave an elaborate description of how India has very few theatres in respect of the size of the country and the number of people living here, and that affects the film business. He said that in India, we have roughly ten thousand theatres, but in the US, which is one-third or fourth of our population, they have 40 thousand screens, while China has 90 thousand.
"For Hindi, we have a maximum of 5 thousand screens. Our biggest hits over the years, no matter which film it is, have had a theatrical footfall of 3 crore people. Only 2 percent of our population watches the biggest hits in theatres," the Salaam Venky actor said.

Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is a spiritual sequel to the blockbuster Taare Zameen Par. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the sequel stars Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, and Darsheel Safary. Aamir is also producing the film, and it will be released on June 20.
