Waves Summit 2025: Lyca Productions back in business with 9 feature films with Mahaveer Jain Films

There were speculations going on that production banner Lyca Productions will be shutting down its business after back-to-back box office failures, with the latest blow coming during the release of Empuraan when the production banner had to step down for another banner to release the Malayalam film. However, during the ongoing World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai, it was announced that Lyca Productions has officially partnered with the popular Mahaveer Jain Films to produce nine feature films for global audiences.

Lyca Productions made its debut with film production with the 2014 Tamil film Kaththi starring Vijay in the lead role. Ever since then, the banner has gone on to produce films Vada Chennai, Don, Mission: Chapter 1 , Kolamavu Kokila , and Ponniyin Selvan duology. However, in the recent times, films like Chandramukhi 2, Lal Salaam, Vettaiyan, Indian 2, and Vidaamuyarchi brought much losses for the banner, speculating that it will shut business, after wrapping up its projects announced.

However, in the ongoing World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai, it was announced that Lyca Productions has partnered with Mahaveer Jain Films to produce nine feature films for global audiences. The initiative of WAVES 2025 is to position India as a major content creation hub in the world.

Speaking about this collaboration, Lyca Group's chairman Dr. Allirajah Subaskaran said, "As a global enterprise with deep Indian roots, Lyca Group is perfectly positioned to serve as a bridge between Indian cinema and world audiences. We are tremendously excited to partner with Mahaveer Jain Films to create content that will showcase India’s extraordinary cultural heritage and storytelling traditions to viewers worldwide." However, further details on the projects have not yet been announced.

What are existing projects at Lyca Productions?

Currently, Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay will be making his directorial debut with Lyca Productions. The film has Sundeep Kishan in the lead role. Besides this, there is also Indian 3, the third part in Shankar and Kamal Haasan’s vigilante action film. However, more details on these projects are to be announced.
