Actors are stepping up to help the victims of the Wayanad landslip financially. The Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund was given donations of Rs 20 and Rs 15 lakh, respectively, by Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan. Together with Minister for Industries P Rajeev and actor Ramesh Pisharody, Mammootty also paid a visit to the camp set up in Ernakulam for gathering necessary items for the victims. He urged everyone to help the victims in any way they could. Fahadh Faasil made a contribution of Rs 25 lakh for the same reason in the meantime.

A few other actors have been pleading with people to contribute whatever they can to the relief effort. Social media users shared videos of actress Nikhila Vimal volunteering to collect supplies for the victims.

On July 30, numerous landslides occurred in the Wayanad district's Chooralmala and Mundakkai, resulting in over 280 fatalities, numerous injuries, and substantial damage. Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have also helped in various ways as the state works to recover from the disaster.

Delay in films’ theatrical releases

In the interim, Malayalam films that were supposed to premiere in theatres on August 2 have been rescheduled. The landslides in Wayanad that claimed multiple lives on July 30 and the intense rains that are battering some parts of the state are the causes of the delay. This Friday, August 2, was supposed to mark the premieres of the Manju Warrier film Footage, the Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu comedy drama Adios Amigo, and the Vinay Forrt horror drama Chithini.

Tamil actors provide financial aid to CM’s fund

Apart from contributing Rs 20 lakh to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund, Vikram expressed his sympathies to the victims. On their social media accounts, Kamal Haasan and Vijay also pleaded with the government to offer the required assistance and relief measures. Together, Suriya, Jyothika, and Karthi gave the fund Rs 50 lakh. Rashmika Mandanna made the most recent donation to the fund on August 1 with a donation of Rs 10 lakhs. Given that the number of victims is rising daily, more aid is anticipated in the upcoming days.
