IFC Midnight released an official trailer for the mysterious new horror thriller movie titled We Need to Do Something. The film is directed by Sean King O’Grady known for movies such as Dinner in America (2020), The Assistant (2019) and the series Living Undocumented (2019).
The horror flick already premiered at Tribeca and Outfest Los Angeles earlier this year. The concept involves a big, life-threatening, apocalyptic storm that is approaching and a family of four is trapped inside their house. The story becomes scary and horrific as they realise there is the presence of a strange, evil force that has the power to strike them down at once and is lurking around the premises. To make the plot scarier and thrilling the family is stuck in the house for days. The movie is described as a “Pandora’s Box of horror” which is completely believable as there are a bit of Stephen King’s everyone-goes-mad storm vibes.
The movie features Sierra McCormick, Lisette Alexis, Pat Healy and Vinessa Shaw. The cinematography and the blocking of the film look promising from the trailer with all the intimate camera shots. They seem to have built dual layers of intensity between the storm and the strange things going on inside the house freaking people out.
From the looks of the trailer, it seems that after Melissa (McCormick) and her family seek shelter, they are stuck there with no sign of rescue, hours turn to days and she then later realises that her girlfriend Amy might have gotten something to do with this absolute horror that is going on. The movie is written by Max Booth III.
IFC Midnight will release the movie in select US theatres + on VOD starting September 3, 2021, which is not so far away.
