Wednesday 2 is all set to roll out on Netflix with major plot twists in its second season. Jenna Ortega’s gothic horror series Wednesday is returning after more than two years, and fans have been counting days ever since the six-minute trailer teased them a few weeks ago. Ahead of Wednesday 2 Part 1’s release on August 6, here is a quick recap for Wednesday 1.

Wednesday Season 1 Recap

Tyler’s Hyde identity

Tyler Galpin, who initially appeared as a normie, is revealed to be a Hyde monster. After being manipulated by Laurel (Wednesday season 1 villain), he joins her in her nefarious plans of revenge. He killed several people on his violent rampage, including Rowan, the outcast boy who attempted to kill Wednesday Addams. Towards the season 1 finale, Tyler was captured and sent to a psychiatric facility.

Laurel Gates’ bloody revenge

Marilyn Thornhill, the beloved botany teacher of Nevermore Academy, is revealed to be actually a revenge-seeking Laurel Gates. She faked her death years ago to return for reviving her ancestor (Joseph Crackstone) for exacting revenge on the outcasts. Laurel’s brother Garrett was also associated with the Addams family. In a flashback sequence, it is revealed that Garrett was obsessed with Wednesday’s mother, Morticia, and wanted to kill the outcasts during the Rave’N dance event, but fate took a twisted turn when his mass death plan backfired and he died.

Laurel vs. Wednesday

Wednesday season 1 concluded with an epic face-off between Wednesday Addams and Laurel Gates. Laurel’s plan to lure Wednesday to resurrect Crackstone was working fine until things took a macabre turn when Wednesday discovered her true evil identity. Laurel wanted to use Goody’s descendant, Wednesday’s blood, to resurrect Crackstone but failed in her plan. Later, Wednesday defeats Laurel, but it remains unclear if she is truly dead or just disappeared for good.

Tyler and Laurel’s relationship

Laurel was the first person who tried to understand Tyler. She revealed him to be a Hyde monster and played mind games with him to ultimately become his master. Their relationship is more than a master-and-servant one since Tyler considered her as a motherly figure and went against the odds to join him in a murderous spree.

Wednesday’s stalker and power dilemma

In the finale episode and the end credits, we see Wednesday facing another dilemma as a stalker sends her some weird GIFs and a threatening message to follow her. The upcoming season might also delve into the identity of this mysterious stalker. Meanwhile, the previous season was also about Wednesday trying to figure out her psychic powers; she found a spirit guide in Goody, but she also left him due to the life-changing deal.

Brace yourself to witness Wednesday 2, as Netflix will drop 4 episodes tomorrow with Part 1, and you will have to wait till September 3 for the season finale.
