The popular Netflix Regency-era romance Bridgerton will return for a third season, with actors Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey reprising their roles. Bailey reprised his role as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton in the second season, which premiered on March 25, and Ashley made her debut as Kate Sharma.

They will be back for more. Kate and Anthony are only at the beginning of their journey. Ashley told Deadline during a Netflix-hosted dinner celebrating South Asian culture in Los Angeles.

The current part focuses on Anthony (Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton brother, who sets out on a mission to find a bride, which leads him to meet the Sharma sisters, Kate (Ashley) and Edwina (Charithra Chandran).

Following the departure of original showrunner Chris Van Dusen, Ashley revealed that Jess Brownell would take over as showrunner for the already planned third and fourth seasons.

The actor revealed that there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony in Season 2. There were familial difficulties, and then they found each other at the end. Everything, she believes, is just getting started. In Season 3, she would like to see Kate let go a little bit more, play a little bit more, and kind of swim in that circle of love together. Ashley thinks they both deserve it.

According to Netflix, the current instalment of the series is one of their most popular shows, yet many viewers have criticised the creators for distorting Indian culture through the characters of Kate and Edwina.

The first season was praised for its diverse cast, exquisite costumes, and compelling tale, launching the careers of its stars, particularly Rege-Jean Page.

Fans were shocked to learn that Page, who played Duke Simon Basset, would not return for the second season, which will centre on the love lives of a different sister.
