What to expect from Prabhas, Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam? Director Radha Krishna Kumar opens up

There has been an uncomfortable silence from the team behind Prabhas, Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam, even when the film has only a month to go before it releases worldwide across five languages. The songs from the film composed by Justin Prabhakaran and Mithoon have been received well but the fans of the lead actors are eagerly waiting for its promotional activities to gain steam. In what's probably the first interview of the film's director Radha Krishna Kumar in a really long time, the filmmaker in conversation with GreatAndhra.com offered a glimpse of what audiences can expect from Radhe Shyam. 

"Prabhas plays a palmist, a role that has several interesting shades. While people may or may not believe in astrology, they don't mind extending their palm in order to predict their future. The role will be refreshing and entertaining. Pooja Hegde was our first choice for the film and when I first met her, I thought she looked like a princess and would fit the part in Radhe Shyam aptly. She was very excited when I heard the script. Audiences will be surprised to see the performer in her. She even underwent a workshop to prepare for the role and I was astounded by her performance," he said.

Radha Krishna Kumar further added, "In simple terms, if Pooja Hegde's Prerana is the question in the film, Prabhas' Vikramadithya is the answer. There's ample situational humour between the two and they share a terrific on-screen chemistry. Prabhas, on sets, is a child at heart but the moment the camera is switched on, he gets into the skin of the role effortlessly. It was great to work with a legend like Krishnam Raju (garu) and notice the passion he has for acting, even at his age. The early portions of the film is set in Hyderabad, but a major chunk of the story is set in Rome and London."

Talking about the decision of roping in Bhagyashree for the project, "We wanted to cast an actress who'll bring something new to the role of a mother and when I okayed Bhagyashree's name, the entire team was excited about her presence. She'll be seen as a dancer, who teaches students in Italy. Her past has a connection with Prabhas' actions in the film. She was always pumped up and brought in great energy to the sets." The film reportedly has only about 16 characters in total and will focus on Prabhas, Pooja Hegde's equation for a major part.

The idea to bring different composers for the South Indian versions and Hindi is an experiment, he admits and conveys it's an attempt to cater to the tastes of all strata of audiences. He remains unperturbed about the box office clash with biggies like RRR, Bheemla Nayak or Pushpa and mentions that this will be a great time for crowds to watch different kinds of films featuring the biggest stars in the industry. Sachin Khedekar, Kunal Roy Kapur, Priyadarshi, Murali Sharma also essay key roles in the film produced by UV Creations.
