Hindustan Times earlier reported that Sony needed a pan-India superstar host who would connect with metros and small towns equally, and Akshay Kumar fit that role perfectly. 

The show marks Akshay Kumar’s return to mainstream television hosting after a series of successful earlier stints, as the channel relies heavily on his quick wit, effortless chemistry with the contestants, and ability to keep the format energetic yet balanced.

 “A show like Wheel of Fortune needs a host who feels approachable, warm and energetic. Akshay ticks all the boxes,” said a source close to the production.
