When AR Rahman made Imtiaz Ali shoot an extra antara for Amar Singh Chamkila song Naram Kaalja

Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila is now a big hit. The film, featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles, is out on Netflix. Imtiaz spoke about the song Naram Kaalja and recalled how singer AR Rahman made sure that an extra antara is shot for the song and it looks like it finally made it to the fun track.

Rahman made Imtiaz use an antara

Recalling he was worried when Rahman made Imtiaz Ali shoot an antara for the Amar Singh Chamkila song Naram Kaalja, Imtiaz told Zoom, “It was so magical. It was the best experience.” The filmmaker was initially nervous because they were running tight on schedule and more money will be spent if they spend time on the particular antara. However, it looks like they ended up using that in the film.

On shooting Naram Kaalja

Imtiaz revealed that none of the women in Naram Kaalja had seen a camera. They were from farm lands, college girls and some played hockey. The director feels shooting the song was a lot of fun.

Women sing more vulgar songs

While shooting for the movie, Imtiaz realized that women sing more vulgar songs than men. This is mainly because of how things are very different for women as compared to men.

Imtiaz praises Parineeti for gaining weight

Imtiaz could not stop praising Parineeti for agreeing to gain weight, since he believes it is a nightmare for anybody to do that. He believes that nobody except Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra could play Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjyot on screen.
