Music man Ravi Basrur is, most definitely going places. The composer, of Ugramm and KGF fame, who has also forayed into Bollywood with Antim, will have his tunes play in the pan-Indian film Muddy, which was been originally made in Malayalam. A first-of-its-kind off-road racing movie, Muddy is directed by Dr Pragabhal and has Yuvan and Ridhaan Krishna in the lead.

Talking to the media at the film’s trailer launch recently, Ravi said, “Cinematographer KG Ratheesh reached out to me and briefed me about Mudd and wanted me to work on the film’s music and background score. As a member of the audience, I have a certain perception of Malayalam cinema – it is content-oriented, with lengthy shots, etc. I wasn’t entirely sure what I could do in a project like that, and, more importantly, if I was the right fit as composer, as my style of music is very different from what is normally heard in Malayalam films. I actually wondered why they approached me and didn’t respond to Ratheesh’s query for more than a month. Eventually, when I met the rest of the team and saw some rushes of the film and their dedication in making it, I also felt that I should be a part of it,” explains Ravi.

Ever since becoming one of the busiest composers, Ravi says that he has stopped using his cellphone unless and until it is absolutely necessary. “Now that I have stopped using it, I think my life has come on track. Also, immersing myself in music all-day long has a certain vibration to it, and I am in a phase of self-discovery through music,” he says.

The pan-Indian movie Muddy will release in theatres on December 10.
