When Jawan actress Sanya Malhotra gatecrashed Shah Rukh Khan’s event ‘because he smells so good’

Not many might be aware but there was a time when Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan co-star Sanya Malhotra stalked him. She had gatecrashed an event where the superstar was expected. This happened because she loves how he ‘smells so good’. Sanya was not yet an actor when the incident happened.

Sanya, the aspiring actor

Sanya had not even landed Dangal by the time and was living with flatmates. One of her flatmates was working as a journalist for a magazine and informed Sanya that Shah Rukh Khan was coming for an event at a hotel in the city. The next thing they know, the flatmates got ready and left in an auto in hopes to meet SRK. The journalist friend asked him a question and he responded with a ‘good question’ which got everyone excited. However, the one thing Sanya remembers about SRK is how he ‘smells so good,’ even today, she adds.

The journey to Jawan

Sanya began her Bollywood journey with one of the biggest films with another superstar Khan – Aamir Khan. She appeared in Dangal and then worked in various movies, including Badaai Ho and Ludo. She became the lead actress in movies almost instantly. Two years after Dangal, Badhaai Ho happened and another two years later, Ludo. Just after Ludo, Sanya was carrying a whole film, titled Pagglait, on her shoulder. The movie released on Netflix in 2021. In 2023, Sanya appeared in the lead in Kathal, followed by her powerful (even if smaller) role in Jawan. In Jawan, Sanya plays the role of one of the six women from SRK’s squad, who, many believe, stole the show.

Jawan role kept under wraps for 2 years

Sanya revealed that she had to be tight-lipped about her role in Jawan for two long years. She could not even talk to her friends about the character and that is why, it turned out to be such a huge surprise when she was revealed among one of the women in the gang. The actress was able to disclose that she was a part of the film only before Kathal promotions began. She did so by sharing the release date and motion poster of the film.

Priyamani, Girija Oak and newcomers Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan and Aaliyah Qureishi are among the six women from SRK’s squad, apart from Sanya. Jawan marked Nayanthara and Atlee’s debut in Bollywood. The movie released in theatres on September 7 and is already giving tough competition to the highest grossing movies of the year.
