When Jaya Bachchan wanted Aishwarya to shoulder her burdens, daughter Shweta Nanda refused

In an old interview, Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan revealed that she wanted her daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to share some of her 'burdens'. 

This conversation took place in one of the earlier season of Koffee With Karan back in 2007. At the time, Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini had come as guests on KWK right before Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s wedding. Daughters Shweta Bachchan (now Nanda) and Esha Deol had paid a surprise visit on set as well. 

When Karan johar learnt that Jaya Bachchan shares all her problems with daughter Shweta, he had sdaid, "Now you’ll be sharing some of the issues with your daughter-in-law now. There will be Ash, who will come and take some of the burdens off your shoulders."

To which, the Bachchan matriarch answered, “Hopefully. I am hoping that she will take a lot more than just ‘some’." KJo chimed in to say, “So you want to give her lots more?” 

However, Shweta didn't think it was a good idea, saying, “Don’t do that mom. It’s scary and intimidating." Jaya then replied, saying, “What rubbish.” Shweta was quick to add, “Slowly ease her into it. ” Karan eagerly asked, “The Bachchan way of life?” While Jaya agreed to karan's observations, Shweta said, “It’s not that hard.”

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya got married in 2007 in a low-key ceremony and had not invited a lot of people to the wedding, including their celebrity friends. Later, in an episode of Koffee With Karan, Abhishek clarified that they wanted to invite the world but couldn't as his grandmother was ill at the time.
