When Life Gives You Tangerines featuring IU and Park Bo-gum is all set to be released on an OTT platform. The upcoming South Korean romance slice-of-life K-drama is set in the scenic Jeju island. Interestingly, some fans have compared the K-drama to the Bollywood movie Barfi!. Both shows depict the ups and downs of love and life, but the characters and challenges are different. IU and Park Bo-gum starrer When Life Gives You Tangerines will be released on March 7 only on Netflix. Fans are excited to see the on-screen chemistry between IU and Park Bo-gum.

When Life Gives You Tangerines plot

The Netflix K-drama, When Life Gives You Tangerines is about the lives of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik over four seasons. The series is set on Jeju Island from the 1960s to 2025. IU plays the role of Ae-sun, the "remarkable rebel" while Park Bo-gum is Gwan-sik, nicknamed "unyielding iron." 

Ae-sun is a rebellious, brave, and positive character who dreams of becoming a poet. But Gwan-sik is a quiet and hardworking character who is not strong in romance. The series follows the couple through the ups and downs of life. The series also features older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik played by Moon So-ri and Park Hae-joon.

The tagline for the K-drama reads, "In Jeju, a spirited girl and a steadfast boy's island story blossoms into a lifelong tale of setbacks and triumphs — proving love endures across time."

In the trailer, we see Ae-sun wearing a school uniform that reflects the period, while Gwan-sik wears gym clothes, creating a nostalgic and youthful vibe. The trailer beautifully captures the changing seasons of life and also showcases the duo's palpable chemistry.

When Life Gives You Tangerines cast

Apart from IU and Park Bo-gum, the K-drama also features Kim Yong-rim as Mak-cheon and Na Moon-hee as Chun-ok. Yeom Hye-ran and Oh Min-ae play Ae-sun and Gwan-sik’s mothers, while Choi Dae-hoon and Chang Hyae-jin portray as Sang-gil and Yeong-ran. 

The cast also includes Cha Mi-kyeong, Lee Soo-mi, and Baik Ji-won as Chung-su, Yang-im, and Gyeong-ja. Cheong Hae-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Uhm Ji-won play key roles in the K-drama.
