The dynamic relationship between a father and child has sort of become the flavour of the season at the Indian box office. Last year witnessed the portrayal of diverse father-child narratives, from a neglectful father leading his son into turmoil (Animal) to a dedicated father safeguarding his daughter (Hi Nanna), films exploring the various stories of fatherhood achieved notable commercial successes. And that trend continues with Saindhav, starring seasoned Telugu star Venkatesh Daggubati.

Saindhav and Hi Nanna share thematic similarities, both centring around the heartwarming bond between a father and his daughter. In a promotional video, Nani, the lead actor in Hi Nanna, delves into the interconnection between these two films.

"Based on the teaser, you might have assumed that Saindhav is a full-blown action movie. But, there is a daughter in it. This Hi Nanna is a sweet love story, that Hi Nanna (read Saindhav) is a violent film with a nice emotional story," Nani cheekily explained.

Venkatesh also suggested that Saindhav is not entirely an action movie as it also delves into profound human emotions. "It's not just action. The film has such wonderful emotional scenes. Sailesh had handled it very well," he added.

Nani noted that due to his strong rapport with director Sailesh Kolanu he was aware of the story of Saindhav, which apparently blew his mind. "The pay off of this film is much bigger than just entertainment. I think rarely we get a movie with all elements that discuss a very important matter," Nani said while heightening the expectations.

The trailer of Saindhav was released on Wednesday, giving a glimpse into its action-packed narrative. In Saindhav, Venkatesh seems to play the role of a reformed criminal, who is forced to go back into the underbelly of the underworld to gather money to buy a life-saving drug for his daughter.

Saindhav stars Baby Sara, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Arya, Shraddha Srinath, Ruhani Sharma and Andrea Jeremiah. And it is set to hit the screens on January 13, coinciding with the Sankranti celebrations.

In the meantime, the OTT release of Nani's Hi Nanna is set to happen on January 4 on Netflix.
