Director-turned-actor Vijay Kumar’s recent film Election hit big screens on Friday. The film is a political drama, directed by filmmaker Thamizh and revolves around local panchayat elections. Uriyadi – Aha Tamil

Uriyadi released in 2016 and is a political action thriller film. The film marked the debut of Vijay Kumar who wrote, directed and produced the film. Uriyadi stars Vijay Kumar, Mime Gopi, Suruli, Henna Bella, and others. A period drama set against the backdrop of the 1990s, the film revolves around the lives of four care-free youngsters whose lives take a turn after they get embroiled in a political fight and get dragged into the caste politics. The film is available for streaming on Aha Tamil. Uriyadi received positive reception upon its release. The film was shot by cinematographer Paul Livingstone and edited by filmmaker Abhinav Sunder Nayak who is known for his Malayalam film Mukundan Unni Associates.

Uriyadi 2 – ZEE5

Uriyadi 2 is the spiritual sequel of Uriyadi and released in 2019. Another political action thriller, the sequel is written and directed by Vijay Kumar once again. The film was produced by Suriya under the banner 2D Entertainment and stars Vijay Kumar along with Vismaya, Aabbas, Parithabangal Sudhakar, Durai Ramesh and others. The film follows a man who gets employed at a factor, along with his two friends. However, they get to learn that the factory is an unsafe working environment which causes deaths in employees. They begin to revolt against the management. Just like the first part, Uriyadi 2 also received good reception and became a commercial success. The film has music by Govind Vasantha and shot by Praveen Kumar.
