‘Nobody’ is a character from the Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, who is seen seated on a couch in the house of Sunny and his friends in Bengaluru. The character is only shown for a few moments, and doesn’t talk or even do so much as move, but is also being celebrated, much like most aspects of the hit film. Telugu filmmaker Nag Ashwin, who directed the epic Kalki 2898 AD, not only praised the Malayalam film but also wanted to know if there would be a spin-off on the character referred to as ‘Nobody’. So who is ‘Nobody’ and how did he become a part of the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer.
'Nobody' in Lokah
Malayalam actor-Model Shibin S Raghav plays ‘Nobody’ in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which stars Kalyani and Naslen in the lead roles. Lokah's casting director Vivek Anirudh recently spoke about how Shibin, a native of Thrissur in Kerala, became a part of the Dominic Arun directorial.
"Even after we began the shoot, we could not find a person suitable to play Nobody. I know a photographer named Pournami, who had taken a photo of Shibin. He looked fab in those photos," Vivek told Malayalam news channel Reporter Live.
Vivek further said that he first showed Shibin's photo to cinematographer Nimish Ravi who liked it. Then, the director Dominic was also shown the photo. After both gave their nod, Shibin was called for trial. Once he wore the costume and sat down for the trial, we had our 'Nobody', recounted Vivek.
Nag Ashwin on ‘Nobody’ in Lokah
The character ‘Nobody’ especially found more attention after the Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin spoke about him during Lokah promotions in the Telugu states, even while praising the cast and crew for the spectacular film.
"I have a question for Dominic. There is this guy in the apartment, who is sleeping on the couch. Does he have a spin-off? He should have a spin-off. He is my favourite character in the film,” he told the Malayalam filmmaker.
Other than showing 'Nobody' slouching on the couch, Lokah does not make any reference as to his name or how did he even end up in Sunny’s apartment. Naslen plays Sunny, who lives in the apartment along with Nijel (Arun Kurian) and Venu (Chandu Salimkumar). Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the mysterious woman named Chandra, who turns up in the apartment opposite to theirs.
