Ever since the movie Adipurush hit the theatres, it has been embroiled in a bunch of controversies. While some are complaining about the abysmal quality of dialogues in the film, a few of them have raised concerns over poor visual effects.
Adipurush, a film which is reportedly budgeted at Rs 500 crores, is based on the highly regarded mythological epic Ramayana. This movie features popular actors Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles.
While the makers of the film are busy in crisis management nowadays, television actor Sunil Lahri has heavily lashed out at the cast and crew of the mythological saga.
Notably, actor Sunil Lahri played Lakshman in the 1987 TV series, Ramayan.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Lahri said, “I really cannot understand who were they (Adipurush makers) catering to. Na narration, na story na characterisation. Sab kuch haywire hai. Different dikhane ke naam pe satyanash kar diya (Everything is haywire. They destroyed everything to make it different).”
Lahri is one of those few people who has watched the film at the theatres. Expressing how he felt after watching the film, he said, “Lord Ram and Lord Lakshman didn’t have any differentiation, looked and behaved the same. Then demon Raavan was made into a blacksmith, where he is beating iron. What was the need? Meghnad is a man with tattoos and the hairstyle of these characters is obnoxious. Raavan has the same haircut as Virat Kohli. It’s a shame.”
Lahri goes on to mention that fans have been demanding the re-airing of the 1987 show since the arrival of the film at the theatres.
Meanwhile, the makers of Adipurush have said that they plan to rewrite the dialogues of the film and re-release the film at the theatres soon. "The makers are revisiting the said dialogues, ensuring to resonate with core essence of the film and the same will reflect in the theatres in the next few days. This decision is a testament that despite unstoppable collections at the Box Office, the team is committed, and nothing is beyond the sentiments of their audiences and harmony at large," a statement issued by T-Series read.
