SS Rajamouli’s popularity as a storyteller skyrocketed to stratospheric levels this year with the success of RRR across the globe. RRR, written by his father Vijayendra Prasad, featured Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn and released across five languages on March 25. While the film grossed well over Rs 1000 crore worldwide, the historical fiction drama struck a chord with an international audience post its OTT release on ZEE5, Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar.

RRR’s international appeal has given a chance for the film to be nominated at the Oscars in multiple categories. To bolster its Oscars prospects, SS Rajamouli is now in the US as part of an extensive promotional drive and is leaving no stone unturned to spread the word about the film to a wide audience. The filmmaker recently gave an interview to host of the ‘Inside Total Film’ podcast to talk about RRR and his future projects.

When the host of the podcast asked SS Rajamouli if he’s being offered plum Hollywood projects (say Marvel films), the filmmaker said, “Yes, there have been many enquiries from Hollywood but I’m currently committed to doing a Telugu film with Mahesh Babu, a big star in the industry.” Also written by his father, the multilingual film, as announced before, will be a globe-trotting adventure on the lines of Indiana Jones. It is produced by KL Narayana under Sri Durga Arts.

RRR recently released theatrically in Japan too and is turning out to be a money-spinner there as well. SS Rajamouli hinted the film may even have a sequel and said that his father is currently developing the idea. Similarly, Baahubali 3 is on the cards as well. The director in many an interview has proclaimed that his biggest dream is to direct a film on the epic Mahabharata. However, there’s no clarity on the project he’ll be taking up post his film with Mahesh Babu.
