Gandhi Talks is a silent film which released in theatres recently. The film had premiered at IFFI in 2023, and now running on big screens. Gandhi Talks is written and directed by Marathi filmmaker Kishor Pandurang Belekar, and stars Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Aditi Rao Hydari and others. With no dialogues, the film is driven by performances, music, and texts. Why make a silent film?

Kishor, in a conversation with OTTplay, said that when he began writing the screenplay for Gandhi Talks, he wants to go back to the roots of Indian cinema. Given it started out as silent films and Kishor added that he had wanted to make Gandhi Talks in a similar style. Moreover, with the film talking about themes such as corruption, money, and power, Kishor stated, “Violence, power and money have noise. But truth and honesty are silent. The film talks about these things and the characters are also very real, and powerless. Which is why they are silent in Gandhi Talks.”
