Akhil Akkineni hasn’t only matured as an actor over the years but also as an individual and it’s certainly reflecting in the way he’s approaching his work and in his public appearance. Ahead of Agent’s release on April 28, Akhil, his co-star Sakshi Vaidya, director Surender Reddy and producer Anil Sunkara came together for a media interaction and fielded questions from the media. Akhil took time to clarify the makers’ release strategy for Agent, promoted as a pan-Indian film.
“Our priority is the Telugu market. Agent was made as a Telugu film first and April 28 is a great release date here; we aim to take it to other languages later. We’ve been told that it’s not ideal in terms of trade to release Agent a week after Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in Hindi. Hence, with the promotional content too, we’re releasing only the Telugu ones first,” Akhil said.
“Of course, there’s every risk that the film may not do well and it may affect our release prospects in other languages. However, we’re sure about our product. The best example for this is Kantara, where the Kannada version released first and other versions came out in the later weeks,” he added. Akhil stated his love for the action genre helped him push his limits and stay motivated through the making of Agent.
“I may have been a part of love stories and they’re an integral dimension to many in my family too but action has always been my forte. When Surender Reddy explained the story to me, I was instantly excited and there’s a positive vibe we experienced in our interaction that helped our rapport. As a director, he doesn’t need to prove himself. I’ve stayed committed to this journey ever since we locked it,” Akhil mentioned.
