Last week, John Abraham made headlines while promoting his latest film, The Diplomat. However, what grabbed equal attention was his desire to reunite with Akshay Kumar. The duo has been one of Bollywood’s most iconic buddy-comedy pairs, delivering hilarious hits like Housefull, Desi Boyz, and Garam Masala over the years. However, it has been a while since they shared the screen, leaving fans eager for a reunion. Now, in his latest interview, John has dropped major hints about the possibility of reuniting with Akshay and even teased the potential revival of one or both of their classic films with sequels!
John Abraham on Garam Masala 2 and Desi Boyz 2?
You read that right! John Abraham, currently busy promoting The Diplomat, has expressed keen interest in teaming up with Akshay Kumar once again. The Jism actor believes that very few duos in Bollywood have had the kind of on-screen chemistry he shares with Akshay. Interestingly, during the same conversation, he revealed that he has been in talks with Akshay about the possibility of making Garam Masala 2, Desi Boyz 2, or maybe even both!
As per Pinkvilla, when John was asked about a possible reunion with Akshay, he shared: “I speak to Akshay occasionally.” He further added: “Of course, I speak to Rohit Dhawan very often. He’s a very close friend of mine—more than just a filmmaker. He’s like a younger brother to me. He’s done two films with me, Desi Boyz and Dishoom. So, I keep in touch with him frequently.”
Talking about the possibility of Garam Masala 2 or Desi Boyz 2, John excitedly stated: “Yes, we are very excited about making either or both of those films happen because they’ll be a lot of fun. For me, working with Akshay is like going on a holiday. He’s a great guy, and we always have a good time. I’ll be the happiest if this happens! I love comedies. When you go to the theater, you want to laugh, and I think comedies are just the best.”
John Takes a Friendly Dig at Akshay’s "Most Disciplined" Title
During the conversation, John also playfully took a dig at Akshay Kumar being crowned as Bollywood’s most disciplined actor—a title he believes he deserves just as much, if not more!
When shown a picture of himself with Akshay, John joked: “That image perfectly reflects our relationship. We genuinely share a strong bond. We do the ‘boy thing’—we just have a great time together. We both wake up early, we both sleep early, and yes, he’s very disciplined. But honestly, I think I’m a little more disciplined. However, I’ll let him keep that throne of being the most disciplined actor.”
