Sankranti 2023 marks the first ever instance of one banner, Mythri Movie Makers, releasing two big Telugu films, Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy, for the same season. Despite tension amidst the fans of the lead stars of both the films, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, the production house is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a fair, smooth release for the highly anticipated flicks on January 12 and January 13 respectively.
In a media interaction, when a journalist asked Chiranjeevi about the possibility of him making a joint appearance with Balakrishna for the success meet(s) of their films, the former cheekily said, “Should we promote Mythri Movie Makers together? (laughs) Why would we be promoting the other film? I don’t know if that’s possible. If at all, it can be worked out, it will be in the hands of the production house themselves. They have managed to bring us together for two films this season. Why not one event?”
While he made the former statement on a light-hearted note, he hailed the production house for making films out of passion and not the mere desire of making money. “They’re definitely not here for money and are ready to go to any extent to spend well for a good product. Many times, I cautioned them about not overspending because we need producers like them and can’t afford to lose them.”
Chiranjeevi appreciated the courage of the banner to release two big films for Sankranthi and planning both the releases well. “Given it’s Sankranthi, we can afford to release two films in the same week and not treat them as competition.” The star also mentioned it was his decision to release Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy on different days. “I didn’t want the shares of either of the films be divided owing to a clash. Hence, we chose different dates.”
