Will Jeetu Kamal play Satyajit Ray in Srijit Mukherji’s Padatik?

Jeetu Kamal’s portrayal of Aparajito Ray – a character based on Satyajit Ray in Anik Dutta’s Aparajito – has been lauded by viewers and critics alike. According to sources, Jeetu might again play Satyajit Ray on the big screen. Srijit Mukherji is all set to make Padatik, a biopic of Mrinal Sen. Chanchal Choudhury plays the protagonist. On Friday, the first look of the film was revealed and Chanchal’s resemblance with Minal Sen was widely talked about. It is reported that Srijit thought of Jeetu as Satyajit. If it is so, then the audience will be curious to see how Jeetu appears as Satyajit for the second time. 

What will be the look of Jeetu? Will it be the same as in Aparajito, or will Srijit add his touch? In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Jeetusaid, “Nothing is final yet. I have a long-grown beard now. I am shooting for the film Manush. I am supposed to play a guest role in Padatik, but my look is not yet set. After Titumir, I will start the work of Aranyer Dinratri. Since all my dates are booked for other films, I can not confirm anything right now.”

Monami Ghosh will play Gita Sen, the wife of Mrinal Sen, in Padatik. Samrat Chakraborty will play Kunal, the son of Mrinal Sen. The shooting will start on January 15 at different locations in Kolkata.
