Will Kunal Kemmu work on Madgaon Express 2? Details inside

After the success of Madgaon Express, director Kunal Kemmu has opened up on whether he will start working on Madgaon Expres 2 anytime soon. The actor also spilled some interesting details with regards to the Pratik Gandhi-Divyendu Sharma-Avinash Tiwary starrer. The movie marked Kunal’s directorial debut and has been lauded both in theatres and on OTT.

So, will there be a sequel?

Kunal has been thinking about Madgaon Express 2. He told Pinkvilla that since there are now expectations from the movie, he will start working on it only once he finds a script better than the original film. Citing the example of how Andaz Apna Apna was a flop and thus, people who saw it with no expectations got a pleasant surprise, Kunal said, “Andaz Apna Apna, if you know, was a flop, but when you go in with no expectations, then it's a pleasant surprise, but now you have expectations.” Apart from Pratik, Divyendu and Avinash, the movie also starred Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam in pivotal roles.

Didn’t write climax of the film

The actor-director did not write the climax of Madgaon Express. This is because he wanted it to be as per the director’s taste. “Initially, when I wrote Madgaon Express, I did write a part for myself but I didn’t know I was going to direct it,” he said. Since Kunal ended up directing the movie, he went back to when he wrote the script and worked on the original climax he had in mind. The same was accepted by the producers and made it to the movie afterall.

Kunal working on other projects too

In the same interview, Kunal shared that he has been working on other projects as well, which are in the fun space. The actor otherwise will be seen in Raj & DK’s next, Gulkanda Tales. The show, also starring Pankaj Tripathi, will release later this year.
