Kannada actor Rishi is making his web series debut this week, when Shaitan drops on Disney+Hotstar on June 15. Directed by Mahi V Raghavan, the show, originally made in Telugu, which will have versions in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, follows a family of four, who, in the pursuit of survival, resort to violent measures. Rishi plays Bali, the lead character of the tale.

With only a day to go before the show comes out, we checked in with Rishi if it is a limited series or if he is set to return as Bali at some point? “Shaitan, as of now, is a single-season show, or rather, limited series, so the story has a start and an end. The director had said that he’s conceived it as a single-season show because he’s not a fan of the thriller genre or of action and violence. He says that probably this is not his zone and that's why he wanted to venture out and figure out this case. It's like facing your own devil is what he said,” says Rishi, adding, “This is a story that we have contained to a four-and-a-half hour narrative.”

Talking about the show, Rishi had earlier told us, “Although it has been made as Telugu show, it will have a pan-India presence, in the sense that the makers have ensured that there are actors from most other industries on the cast. For instance, there are multiple well-known Telugu actors, three from Malayalam, and a few from Tamil. There’s Ravi Kale, Jaffer Sadiq, Lena, Manikandan, etc. it I was a little fascinated to see how everyone was so different in their approach and the way they carry carried themselves, which is one of the biggest learnings for me through Shaitan, which I would have otherwise not experienced. The show was shot in Madanapalle and Shivamogga.”
