Following wife Jada Pinkett Smith and daughter Willow Smith's stint at hosting talk shows, Will Smith will now be hosting a Comedy Variety Special for Netflix.
Will Smith will soon be seen hosting and starring in a new one-hour comedy variety special for Netflix. The special is said to include comedy sketches, musical performances, surprise celebrity guests, and noteworthy conversations among other things. With a release date yet not decided, the special will be launched globally on Netflix sometime later this year, as per a report on Variety. The special will be Smith's first-ever variety comedy special.
The report further adds that the comedy special will be a joint venture, produced by Netflix and Will Smith's production banner Westbrook Studios. Along with hosting and starring in the special, Smith will also be serving as the executive producer. Westbrook Studios’ Terence Carter, Miguel Melendez and Sahara Bushue will also executive produce alongside Smith.
Smith is a multi-faceted entertainer who has been working across all branches of entertainment. He is best known for his remarkable performances across his blockbuster filmography, having appeared in smash hits like the Bad Boys and Men in Black franchises and even critically renowned films like Ali and The Pursuit of Happiness. The latter two films earned him Academy Award nominations.
Smith and his Westbrook Studios are currently producing several projects across film, television, and digital platforms. Most anticipated among those is Bel-Air, which is a reimagining of the popular American sitcom that Smith starred in, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that has already received a two-season order at Peacock.
