Will Soumitrisha join politics? Here is what she says

Soumitrisha Kundu went to a big-budget film Pradhan straight from the Zee Bangla serial Mithai. The actress caught people’s attention by playing opposite Dev in the film Pradhan. Now she is away from television. She was seen campaigning with Raj Chakraborty during the election. Does she want to come to politics? 

In an interview with TV 9, Soumirisha said, ‘To me, Devda and Rajda are like guardians beyond cinema. Whenever I face problems, I get the right advice from them. They are my guides.” 

She also said, “Ten years back, when Devda won the election for the first time, I did not start acting. I was a mere fan at that time. Then also I wished him the best in my mind. I could not bring my wish to him at that time. This time, after he won, I congratulated him. Now I am his heroine, but I was always his fan.” 

Regarding joining politics, Soumitrisha said, “If someone thinks I am fit for this, I will definitely join. I am there to serve people. Everyone should serve people. You can stand by people’s side without any seat. If you have a seat, you have some advantages–whatever you want to do can be done quickly. That’s all. But I have not yet thought about whether I want to join politics.” 

In a previous interview, Soumitrisha said that she was selected for the film Bagha Jatin, before Pradhan. But it was not finalized as she was then working in Mithai. Dev said that an artist had to give full time for a movie. That was not possible amidst the serial’s busy schedule. Hence Dev told Soumitrisha at that time that they would do the next film together.
