The Kashmir Files helmer Vivek Agnihotri, who is about to release his upcoming film The Vaccine War, is making headlines for his statements on actor Naseeruddin Shah. Vivek and Naseeruddin had worked in The Tashkent Files but are yet to be seen collaborating with one another. During his recent interview, Vivek hinted that there could be a misunderstanding, which in turn hints that he could look at working with the veteran actor again.

The filmmaker did not name the actor but did hint that some said things could be misunderstood. “I do it because somebody has to speak up. When I'm in a position of influence, and I can influence even 10 young people to believe in India's newfound confidence and to take India forward, that's more than enough,” he shared.

During his interaction with Hindustan Times, Vivek Agnihotri did acknowledge that regional filmmakers do tend to touch upon the topic of science films. This was after he was cited the example of the 2019 Malayalam film, Virus. The filmmaker believes The Vaccine War would have been the first science film if R. Madhavan had not released Rocketry. He believes that Bollywood lacks behind because the directors think their audiences are dumb and science is for the smart people.

When asked about the Box Office pressure, the filmmaker said that he would want to inspire even one soul to become a virologist to call his film a success. He then spoke about how US reacted to his upcoming movie. “They've cried, laughed, felt proud, they came out and hugged us and thanked us for making this film,” he shared and added that how people in India react to the same movie will be a litmus test.

The Vaccine War stars Nana Patekar in the lead role. Touted to be India's first-ever bio-science film, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, Sapthami Gowda and Pallavi Joshi in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on September 28.
