Carlos Alcaraz is in the Wimbledon final for the third time in a row, in a bid to take the title home yet again. Alcaraz won his semi-final match against Taylor Fritz on July 11, 2025, which did not come easily, what with the latter almost forcing a deciding fifth set, with a fourth-set tie-breaker. Fritz was on match point when Alcaraz fought back and then took charge to win the set and the match.

Had it gone into a fifth set, there’s no telling which way it could have gone, as Fritz brought his best serves to this match, many of which Alcaraz had no answer to. Most of Fritz’ service games were over almost as soon as they began, as he let aces fly across court. Alcaraz has now extended his head-to-head record against Fritz to 3:0.

Alcaraz will meet the winner of the Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner second semi-final in the final on July 13. Should the young Spaniard succeed in getting to a third consecutive Wimbledon title, he will be the fourth ever in the Open Era, after Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer. Djokovic also has back-to-back wins in his 7, interrupted by the pandemic year of no competition. Borg won it five times in a row; Sampras did it twice – 3 in a row, and later 4 back-to-back wins, while Federer also won it 5 times in a row in his total of 7 titles.
