Ranbir Kapoor will return to the big screen after a four-year gap with Shamshera. The actor believed that his late father, Rishi Kapoor, would have been pleased with his portrayal in the period-drama film. According to Ranbir, his father constantly encouraged him to explore different characters that would allow him to reach people.

Ranbir said in a statement that he hoped his father was still alive to witness the film and that he would have become quite candid about his judgment and liking of his film.

“So, it’s sad that he’s not going to see it. But I am really excited that I got to do a film like this and I hope that somewhere up there he is looking out for me and he is proud of me,” he added.

Ranbir further mentioned how Shamshera is an attempt to communicate to a pan-Indian audience, which is a significant move for the actor. He went on to emphasise how much he wants to improve as an actor, and Shamshera will be a significant step in that direction. According to him, performers should connect with the audience in order to amuse them.

The actor also remarked that he is extremely curious to see how audiences respond to him in this role. He also shared his excitement about playing a role like this in a film.

Sanjay Dutt portrays the ruthless villain in the flick as Shudh Singh, who is a vicious and nasty commander. The plot centres around a man who turns into a sleeve and his journey to become a tribal leader. He battled resentfully for the independence of his people.

Fans are also looking forward to the ultimate battle between the two stars. Karan Malhotra directs the film, which also stars Vaani Kapoor as the female lead. Aditya Chopra presents the film through his production firm, Yash Raj Films. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on July 22, 2022.
