Leigh Whannell's horror thriller Wolf Man will be released on JioHotstar in India on May 17, 2025, following a lacklustre theatrical run earlier this year. This film is the next installment in Universal Pictures' new strategy for its legendary monster franchises; it is a contemporary remake of the original Wolf Man films.

Film Title Wolf Man
OTT Release Date (India) May 17, 2025
Streaming Platform JioHotstar
Director Leigh Whannell
Lead Cast Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, Sam Jaeger

Wolf Man's tale of transformation and terror

Wolf Man is a frightening tale about a man who fights his own horrific metamorphosis while attempting to save his family. The film stars Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, and Sam Jaeger. Despite receiving mostly negative reviews upon its January 17, 2025, theatrical release in the US, the film managed to rake in $34.9 million globally, which is quite low for a horror flick produced by Blumhouse (watch Insidious: The Last Key).

Wolf Man takes place in rural Oregon and follows the family of husband and father Blake (Abbott) as they move back in with their troubled childhood home following his father's disappearance. A mysterious entity attacks the family, turning what starts as an attempt to reconcile into a terrible ordeal. Charlotte (Garner), Blake's wife, faces a terrifying reality as the full moon approaches and her husband's behaviour grows increasingly erratic: the true monster might already be lurking within their home.

Leigh Whannell revives Universal's Monster legacy

The Invisible Man (2020), director and co-writer Leigh Whannell, spearheads a creative revival of the iconic Universal Monsters lineup, focussing on independent stories instead of the axed "Dark Universe." The project was drastically changed in 2023 when Whannell joined the team with new directors and actors, following an original concept by Ryan Gosling (watch Blade Runner 2049), who was attached to star in addition to producing.

While users of JioHotstar will get access to Wolf Man beginning May 17, you may catch it sooner by renting it on Prime Video and ZEE5, where it is now available on demand.

Spooky summer treat for horror fans

In time for summer binge sessions, JioHotstar has added Wolf Man to its burgeoning horror collection, providing horror aficionados in India with yet another terrifying option. The film promises to be a terrifying experience for anyone daring enough to venture into the woods, thanks to its spooky vibe, excellent acting, and Whannell's characteristic psychological depth.
