Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s bromance has tickled fans’ delight for quite a while. After ribbing and roasting each other on social media and hilarious advertisements, the duo are making fans’ dreams come true. It was announced that Jackman will share the screen with Reynolds in the Deadpool franchise.
Reynolds made the announcement in the wittiest way possible, sharing a hilarious video on social media. The video saw Reynolds talk about how hard the makers were working on the next instalment in the Deadpool franchise, with some funny moments of the actor doing some ‘soul searching’ as Deadpool is gearing up for his MCU debut. Unfortunately Reynolds seemed to have been unable to come up with anything. But then, as he says that he had one idea, Jackman is seen sashaying by. As Reynolds asks if he wants to be in the next Deadpool film, Jackman replies “Yeah, sure Ryan”. A version of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You, where ‘You’ is replaced with ‘Hugh’, sealed the deal in the best of ways.
Check out the announcement below:
The upcoming film will not mark the first time Wolverine and Deadpool have shared the screen together. Reynolds’ had essayed the role of Wade Wilson aka Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). While sharing Jackman’s video, Reynolds referenced his character in the 2009 film, with the caption “Hard keeping my mouth sewn shut about this one”. The character had not been well received in the 2009 film.
Reynolds had gone on to star in a standalone film based on the Marvel comics character in 2016’s Deadpool and its 2018 sequel, garnering acclaim from fans and critics alike for his performance. The third instalment in the franchise will be directed by Shawn Levy and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The latter two had also written the first two Deadpool films as well.
