This a huge step forward when it comes to women's cricket as India is all set to host the Women's Premier League (WPL) this year from March 4 to the 26th.

The player auction for the same will take place on February 13 (Monday) in Mumbai. Here's all you need to know about the auction:

What: Inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) Auction 2023

Where: Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai

When: February 13 (Monday)

When will it begin: From 2:30 PM IST onwards

Where to watch LIVE: It will get televised on Sports 18 Network

Where to watch on OTT: It will be live streaming on the Jio Cinema app 

The five teams: Bengaluru, Delhi, Gujarat, Lucknow, Mumbai

Total Auction Purse per team: Each franchise will have Rs 12 crores to spend on players

Number of players teams can buy: A franchise needs to buy a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18

Number of overseas players per team: Five with at least 1 from an Associate Nation

Total Number of players who registered for the auction: 1525

Total Number of players to go under the hammer: 409

Total Number of India players: 246

Total Number of Overseas players: 163

Total Number of players from Associate Nations: 8

Total Number of Capped players: 202

Total Number of Uncapped players: 199

Maximum slots available across all 5 teams: 90

Maximum overseas players' slots available: 30

Price Categories:

Highest: Rs 50 lakh (24 players)

Key Indian players in highest base price: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma

Overseas players in highest base price: Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine, Deandra Dottin

Second base price category: Rs 40 lakh (30 players)

Third base price category: Rs 30 lakh

Base price for uncapped players: Between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh
