From Manjadikuru to Koode, director Anjali Menon’s films have always introduced a fresh perspective to the audience, when it comes to telling stories about ordinary people and their lives. Her latest venture Wonder Women, which has Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nithya Menen, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Sayanora Philip, Amruta Subhash, Archana Padmini and Nadiya Moidu in the lead, promises to once again take the viewers through a different experience, this time with pregnant mothers at its core.

In a recent interview, the filmmaker talked about the movie, which will release on Sony LIV on November 18 and why she feels it will be interesting. The Bangalore Days director said that the movie is shown through the lens of pregnancy, but is essentially about friendship.

“When you look through the lens, there's a variety because each pregnancy is different from the other and that also makes the characters different. That is what I think is interesting in the film. How do they thrive in that multiplicity and what is the chemistry between them. Amid all this there's a common thread too, all of them are on a path but they reach there in their separate ways,” said the filmmaker, in an interview with Mathrubhumi.

The film revolves around six pregnant women who join a week-long pre-natal class and during the course of the class, help each other navigate through their fears, confusion and hope. “It's a story that explores an area that is often not shown in cinema. For instance, a space where there's only women such as a girl's college or school. This is set in that space,” said Anjali.

Wonder Women, which is produced by Little Films and RSVP Flying Unicorn Entertainment, is touted to be a feel-good venture that is shot in English with smatterings of Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil and Hindi.
