Director Anjali Menon has a track record for creating films that move the audience and celebrate life. Her latest movie Wonder Women, which has a stellar star cast, promises to do all that and more.

Starring Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nithya Menen, Nadiya Moidu, Archana Padmini, Amrutha Subhash, Padmapriya and Sayanora, the movie revolves around a group of women who come together to help each other “navigate familiar experiences, fears and hopes,” according to the makers, who had revealed the film’s trailer earlier this month.

The movie revolves around six pregnant women - Saya, Mini, Nora, Veni, Gracy and Jaya – who come from different walks of life and enroll in a pre-natal class that is run by Nadiya Moidu’s character. Over a course of a week, the women begin discovering themselves, the solutions to their problems and also helping each other out in their “quirky” journey of empowerment, motherhood and hope.

In a press statement, Anjali Menon had said that she discovered that “sisterhoods can empower us individually and collectively”. “With Wonder Women, I wanted to portray this warm bond through multiple characters from varied backgrounds and their fun and feisty way of dealing with life,” she said.

The movie marks the third directorial of the filmmaker after Manjadikuru, Bangalore Days and Koode, which had Prithviraj Sukumaran, Parvathy and Nazriya Nazim in the lead. Wonder Women, which will begin streaming on Sony LIV from November 18, is also co-produced by Little Films Productions along with RSVP Flying Unicorn Entertainment.

The movie, which is also scripted by Anjali, is in English with smatterings of Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The filmmaker also said that the characters are ordinary women and she hopes they connect with audience across the country.

Govind Vasantha has composed the music for the film, which is shot by cinematographer Manesh Madhavan.
