Naga Chaitanya's fans were treated to a very special update earlier today as the first-look poster of 'Thandel' made its way out. Chiselled, brooding and meaning business, the actor made quite the impression in the poster of Chandoo Mondeti's next, and expectedly, social media is buzzing at the moment over his look.

Naga Chaitanya plays the role of a fisherman in the film, we hear, who is found quite literally in the eye of the storm in the said poster as he guides his boat. Other reports tell us that Thandel will be based on real-life incidents and that Chay is going to great lengths to fit the bill. He, along with the director, is said to have visited the K Matchilesam village in the Srikakulam village in Andhra Pradesh to prep for the film.

What's striking about the project though is its title, which doesn't find its origin in the Telugu language. Turns out the word 'Thandel' or 'Tandel' is derived from the Gujarati language which means a ship's chief sailor or captain and if a few reports on social media are to be believed, Naga Chaitanya will be seen playing the titular role in the film.

'Tandel', figuratively, could also be used in reference to a person with a grand or tall stature, meaning that Chay will be every bit the leading man one expects him to be. He will, of course, have the company of Sai Pallavi who has previously delivered the hit film 'Love Story' with him in 2021. Thandel will be Naga Chaitanya's third film with Chandoo Mondeti after Premam and Savyasachi.

On the other hand, Chay also looks forward to the release of his grand OTT debut 'Dhootha', whose trailer will be launched on his 37th birthday on November 23rd. Billed as a 'supernatural thriller', the upcoming show directed by Vikram K. Kumar will present Naga Chaitanya in the role of an accomplished journalist who must tackle mysterious forces around him - Parvathy Thiruvothu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prachi Desai and others, too, star in 'Dhootha'.
