Much to the delight of the fans, Director Srijit Mukherji’s film X=Prem is all set to release on May 13. The film features Anindya Sengupta, Shruti Das, Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak in lead roles.
This is Mukherji’s first romantic venture and he has been receiving umpteen requests from his fans and audience to try out his hands on the genre, for a long time. And it’s finally going to arrive soon.
But for now, the poster is triggering buzz and curiosity amongst the cinema-goers and fans of Mukherji. X=Prem is a new-age love story that deals with the complexities of human emotions, the selflessness of love as well as the ache one has to encounter in their lifetime.
The story is about a couple who bumps into various challenges and turmoil of life resulting from an unexpected turn of events. Khilat (Sengupta), a software engineer, and his girlfriend Joyee (Das) embark on a journey to overcome their obstacles through scientific methods. In their journey, it's the power of love that helps them solve any and all problems.
Both Sengupta and Das are all set to make their debut with X=Prem and the young brigade is all excited about their storming entry.
“It’s a dream come true moment for me and the journey so far was enthralling and rewarding too. Starting your innings with a director like Srijit Mukherji!! What more can you ask for!! (sic),” Anindya Sengupta exclaims while speaking exclusively to OTTplay.
The film is shot in black-and-white and also marks Mukherji’s first collaboration with Subhankar (DoP). In an interview with Times of India, Mukherji said it’s his first film entirely shot in black-and-white.
The monochrome palette was chosen to “magnify the aesthetics behind the feeling of love, sacrifice, hardships and togetherness”, Sengupta tells OTTplay.
Last year July X=Prem started their journey and it was mostly shot in and around Kolkata. The concluding part was shot in Karnataka.
The songs are composed by Saptak Das who’s better known as ‘Shanai’ amongst his peers.
The audio album is going to release on April 8.
X=Prem is backed by SVF and is coming to a theater near you on May 13
