The teaser of X=Prem, an upcoming Bangla romantic drama, is here. The movie is directed by Srijit Mukherji and features Anindya Sengupta, Shruti Das, Arjun Chakraborty, and Madhurima Basak in the lead roles.
The opening sequence of the teaser presents a split-screen image and we see two characters, played by Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak, reminiscing about a third person and then the Shreya Ghosal number Bhalobashar Morshum from the soundtrack pushes in with montages of romantic nostalgic moments in the backdrop. And a quote by Gabriel García Márquez fades in which reads, “Forgetting is difficult for those who have a heart.” Impressed by this already? Wait for it.
We then see a different couple in Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Das. They are caught in some sort of emotional crisis. This teaser concludes with a shocking glimpse of an accident and fades away. It somehow triggers a possibility of infusing science and love together and that’s how the title came into play.
Watch the teaser here:
This teaser looks promising and as stated earlier, it shows how the character involved deals with the complexities of human emotions and the selflessness of love as well as the ache one has to encounter in their lifetime.
The entire film, X=Prem, is shot in monochrome and according to the director, he wanted to implement this tonality to enhance the flavor and uniqueness of this movie.
The fans are already hooked and are eagerly looking forward to May 13, which is when X=prem will hit the big screens.
Music plays a key role in the narrative of X=Prem and the album has six exquisite tracks composed by debutant composer Saptak Das who’s better known as ‘Shanai’ amongst his peers. Some of the most melodious singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh, Sahana Bajpaie, Samantak Sinha and others have given their voices to the songs of the album. The lyrics of the songs have been penned by Dhrubojyoti Chakraborty, Subrata Barishwala Barish, and Srijit Mukherji. Srijit wrote the lyrics for the song Raikishori. Shreya Ghosal has delivered her voice to one song in the album, Bhalobashar Morshum, which also makes it to the teaser. Arijit Singh has performed on the male version of the same song.
Mukherji is the National award-winning Bengali director, who has directed many commercially successful ventures in the past, such as Autograph (2010), Jaatishwar (2014), and Gumnaami (2019).
This is Mukherji’s first romantic venture and he has been receiving umpteen requests from his fans and audience to try out his hands on the genre for a long time. Thus, now, Srijit is here with X=Prem. If the teaser has managed to impress one and all already, we wonder what the trailer will be like. Can you wait? We surely cannot.
