X=Prem is Srijit Mukherji’s first romantic venture, following umpteen requests from fans and audiences to try his hand at the genre. X=Prem is all set to release on May 13 and much to the delight of the fans, the makers have dropped the latest song Roder Nishana. The lyrics of the song have been penned by Dhrubojyoti Chakraborty. All songs of the film are composed by Saptak Das, who’s better known as ‘Shanai’ among his peers and he also sang the number.

The song features newcomers, Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Das along with Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak and it attempts to delve into the arch of the narrative. X=Prem deals with the complexities of human emotions and the selflessness of love as seen in the life of the lead pair. But an unexpected turn of events leads to various challenges and turmoil in their life.

Shreya Ghoshal, Sahana Bajpaie, Arijit Singh and Samantak Sinha have given their voice to the other songs in the album. The lyrics of the other songs have been penned by Subrata Barishwala Barish, and Srijit Mukherji himself. Srijit wrote the lyrics for one of the songs, ‘Raikishori’, a task he took on after a long time.

The film has been shot in black-and-white by cinematographer Subhankar. This film is his maiden collaboration with Mukherji. The monochrome palette was chosen to magnify the aesthetics behind the feeling of love, sacrifice, hardships, and togetherness.

The production of X=Prem started in July, last year. It is mostly shot in and around Kolkata and in Karnataka. Backed by SVF, X=Prem is coming to a theatre near you on May 13.
