Director Srijit Mukherji’s film X=Prem is all set to release on May 13 and much to the delight of the fans, the makers dropped the third song Baaynabilashi today. The song features newcomer Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Das as a romantic couple hankering for each other’s attention.
The song Baaynabilashi is sung by Sahana Bajpaie, and Samantak Sinha, and has been composed by Saptak Das, who’s better known as ‘Shanai’ among his peers. Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh have given their voice to the other delightful songs of the album. The lyrics of the songs have been penned by Dhrubojyoti Chakraborty, Subrata Barishwala Barish, and Srijit Mukherji himself. Srijit wrote the lyrics for one of the songs, ‘Raikishori’, a task he took on after a long time.
X=Prem also features Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak in a different setup. This is Mukherji’s first romantic venture, following umpteen requests from fans and audiences to try his hand at the genre. X=Prem deals with the complexities of human emotions and the selflessness of love as seen in the life of the lead pair, a couple that bumps into various challenges and turmoils in life resulting from an unexpected turn of events.
The film has been shot in black-and-white by cinematographer Subhankar, for who this film is his maiden collaboration with Mukherji. The monochrome palette was chosen to magnify the aesthetics behind the feeling of love, sacrifice, hardships, and togetherness.
Last year July X=Prem started their journey and it was mostly shot in and around Kolkata and in some parts of Karnataka. X=Prem is backed by SVF and is coming to a theatre near you on May 13.
