On June 2, the Kannada remake of the 2019 Telugu film Evaru, which has been called Yada Yada Hi, will be in theatres. Produced by Rajesh Agarwal and directed by Ashok Teja, the Kannada version has Vasishta N Simha, Hariprriya and Diganth in the lead. The trailer of the film was released earlier today, and by the looks of it, Yada Yada Hi is a faithful remake of the original. Evaru was loosely based on the 2016 Spanish film The Invisible Guest and starred Regina Cassandra, Adivi Shesh and Naveen Chandra in the lead.
The plot follows a corrupt cop’s investigation into what appears to be an open-and-shut case of self-defence, wherein a woman kills her alleged rapist. But as the investigation takes off, it is revealed that there’s more than meets the eye to this story. Speaking at the trailer launch, Diganth, who plays the cop investigating the case, said that he had great fun being in khaki mode, so much so that the actor, who is normally reluctant to take pictures of himself in character, took multiple shots in the uniform. He added that the film is based on a novel, which Evaru also used as source material and that the makers used it to present it for Kannada audiences.
Diganth also addressed an oft asked question whether Vasishta and Hariprriya, who got married in January this year, fell in love on the set of the film, as has been reported earlier and if so, at which point during the making did they realize they had feelings for each other. Contrary to that, though, director Ashok revealed that it was Hariprriya who suggested Vasishta for the lead role, implying that they were already an item back then, but successfully hid it from the team for the longest time.
